Design Problem: Recyclable Sticky Note

Did you know PostIt notes can't be recycled? I didn't. Apparently the sticky part gums up paper recycling equipment and the typically bright colored paper isn't so good for making recycled paper. This looks like a great design problem for someone to tackle, because the current alternatives aren't so attractive (push pins, paper clips, plain note paper) when compared with the advantages of the PostIt and non-branded sticky notes.

The sticky note is useful for fixing paper in both vertical and flat situations (both a wall and a table, for example). Push pins require a prepared surface and paper clips require a thin, stable object for attachment. If someone can figure out a way to make the adhesive sticky but soluble in the recycling process, that seems the best route, plus use a recyclable paper. (The loss of highly visible colored paper seems acceptable to me.)
