{ the coffee mill | downtown lowell }

well, althought it shouldn’t be an unusual destination for me, i stopped back in lowell again for the first time in a while … dropping off some artwork for the Arts League of Lowell Winter Salon { hopefully opening this Sunday } … got into lowell like bright ‘n’ fr!kken early … all like 8 o’clock ‘n’ sh!t, right? + so, like i go down to the ALL Gallery and, of course, nobody’s there yet … the email said someone would be there up until about 11 or so, which is supercool { sort of a second chance to sign up for the show … the first drop off resulted in a very small amount of work for the show i guess }, but i gotta get to work by at least 10, you know?

well, i check out Van Gogh’s Gear … nobody yet … so, i grab my laptop and hit the streets … on the hunt for a bank machine, i ask a local suit where i might find a bank of america ‘n’ all { actually, no suit … just a tie, nice guy at that too … it just sounds so grit noir to say ‘a local suit’ … ;] } … so anyhow … he points me to a Sovereign, which is cool but will probably result in an additional $2 or more service charge … but whatever … so, heading back down Palmer Street i decide to stop into The Coffee Mill …

nice singer songwriter stuff as the audio wallpaper … superfriendly owner and counter intelligence … they seem to know everyone by name … there’s a bit of the buzz of conversation | or rather … conversations … i order, of all things, the potentially dangerous ‘chocolate peanutbutter latte … i also get a little cinnamon chip scone to go w/ it { although i really shouldn’t … tryin’ to watch ‘the weight’ … you know? } …

… i explore a bit and besides the front room … nice smallish space w/ plenty of storefront light coming in, counter, self-serve thermoses full of the days brews { stacks of cups to the left, near the 2 refridgerator units }, hardwood floors, brick and white walls … so besides this main service | bar area of the cafe, just through an arched doorway there is a cozy backspace w/ more comfortable chairs | sofas and people chatting back there as well … i choose to stay up front, gonna use the laptop to preoccupy me for a bit …

the chocolate peanutbutter latte is surprisingly subtle, just the right hint of nutty goodness in there, smooth from my decision to indulge in whipped cream this time around … i’m feeling pretty good right now, but i have to finish up this scone and get going, get back to the ALL Gallery and hopefully put my 2 photo offerings in the Winter Salon … nice way to start the day though … happy thursday!
